Communicate with symbols and letters

For a faster and more efficient communication word and letter page sets in Mind Express use smart word and sentence predictions. This means fewer keystrokes and faster communication.

For those with reading or writing difficulties Mind Express offers symbol communication with optional auditory feedback. Mind Express 5 comes with SymbolStix, Bliss and PCS symbol sets for a library of more than 61,000 symbols. Upload your own symbol sets or replace symbols with photos for a more personalized experience.

Endless options for personalization

Everything in Mind Express has been streamlined to make editing and personalization as smooth as possible. Ready-made communication boards and vocabularies in Mind Express can be customized with words, symbols, photos and images from the internet to reflect the user’s communication style.

Choose a voice that suits you best, adjust the pronunciation of words or names, or record the pronunciation yourself.

Tools in education and therapy

Stimulate language development with extensive vocabulary page sets, such as SCORE.

Utilize games and exercises available on the Mind Express website. From basic shapes and colour activities, to memory training games, exercises for math, reading, writing, and more – Mind Express has the tools to help build basic skills in a fun and engaging way.

Use with any access device

Access Mind Express with a touch screen, one or two switches, a mouse or alternative pointing device such as joysticks and trackballs, head tracking and eye gaze. Switch between the different access methods right from the menu, adjust access settings such as touch sensitivity, eye gaze tracking, dwell times and more.

Stay connected

Mind Express acts as an interface to control Windows computers. No matter the access method, users can stay connected with friends and family via emails, text messages and calls, surf the internet and social media, access their favourite computer programs, and entertainment (movies, YouTube videos, music and more).

Mind Express is built into all Jabbla communication devices, but can also be used on other Windows based devices.

Environmental control

With infrared and/or radio transmitters built into Jabbla’s communication devices Mind Express offers a lot of possibilities to operate the devices in your environment yourself. Turn lights on and off, change channels on the television, open doors, and more right from the computer.

User-focused interface

The new interface is clean and easy to use for old and new users alike. The set up process for new users is quick and easy and lets users start communicating within minutes with a wide selection of ready-made page sets and templates to choose from.
The new portal has a clean look and puts the essentials of the software right at the users’ fingertips. Access communication boards, create and edit page sets, switch between access methods, open the help window and more directly from the portal.

Ready-to-use page sets

Mind Express offers a large library of ready-made page sets, including many templates such as email, video, music, calendar, contacts, Windows Control and more. Get access to even more resources, including games and activities, in the Mind Express website.

Other changes:

Expanded grammar functions. The software will automatically adapt a word or cell label to the correct form, for example after choosing ‘I’, ‘am’ appears as the label text instead of ‘be’). This is particularly useful in French where verbs are conjugated based on a number of factors.
More accurate prediction. Mind Express contains thousands of ready-to-use sentences and over 60,000 SymbolStix symbols (20,000 more than Mind Express 4!). Plus, the smart predictor takes typing and dyslexic errors into account.
PCS is now included in Mind Express 5 as a standard symbol set
Expanded cell style options with more shapes
Search function. Quickly find a word or concept within the communication board by using the search function. Mind Express will show you the path to that word from the current page. Very useful for teaching navigation within a page set.
Simplified dynamic lists. Dynamic lists are now just pages in the document. This makes the dynamic content very visual and keeps the styles of the cells. Modifying a dynamic list is even easier now.
Licensing streamlined. Vocabulary licenses are now linked to your Mind Express license. Mind Express 5 is only available as a web license.
