Download the free Widgit Dementia Support Pack designed for adults, with a memory loss or dementia diagnosis.
May 13 to 19 is Dementia Action Week in the UK and Australia. Widgit recently shared the Dementia Support Pack, a collection of symbol supported resources including visual schedules, communication aids and therapeutic activities. The pack was created by Chris Suich whose husband (Bob) was diagnosed with amnesia when he was just 59. Bob later went on to receive a dementia diagnosis.
Whether the cause is Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington's disease, Lewy body dementia or other conditions, dementia can make comprehending written language increasingly challenging. Widgit’s visually clear symbol vocabulary created with a consistent schema, aids comprehension and engagement.
The Widgit symbols are a 40,000+ word vocabulary that has been used around the world to support written and verbal communication in schools, clinics, hospitals, prisons, courts, and on the web.
Using Widgit’s apps Widgit Online on InPrint, it’s easy for care givers to create their own visuals specific for their needs.
A subscription to Widgit Online starts at only $12/month and you get two months free when you subscribe for a year. A 21 day free trial is available, too.
