Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction

Comprehensive literacy resources used by thousands of teachers to ensure that students facing the biggest challenges in their learning process can read, write, and communicate.

Literacy skills are essential for individuals to fully participate in society, and they provide a foundation for success in school and in life.

When literacy education is inclusive, it means that all students, regardless of their background, abilities, or disabilities, are provided with the support and resources they need to succeed.

The inclusive literacy education of Readtopia and ReadtopiaGo, by Building Wings, recognizes and respects the diversity of learners, ensuring that every student can reach their full potential.

Readtopia

Readtopia is a comprehensive reading curriculum for upper elementary, middle and high school students with complex needs, including autism. It brings first-hand experiential learning into the classroom — providing literacy instruction, social studies and science content and integrated math skills, in a way that allows students to truly experience it all.

Leveled instructional materials cover the widest range of student needs, from emergent readers to early conventional readers, and all of the materials are delivered online so they’re available wherever you teach.

Integrated Thematic Units connect literacy with content area learning and life skills, which maximizes engagement:

  • Literacy — Includes all components of a comprehensive reading curriculum and resources including Informational Text, Phonics/Word Study, Videos, Graphic Novels, and Literature
  • Math — Integrated math lessons (at up to six levels) connect with thematic units—delivering instruction in context
  • Social Studies — Social Studies subjects take students around the world to learn by experiencing
  • Functional Life Skills — Functional Life Skills cover three major life domains: Daily Living Skills, Self-Determination/Interpersonal Skills, Employment Skills
  • Science — Students learn about science topics while hands-on with experiments to make predictions about the world

With your Readtopia subscription, you get access to a library of 28 thematic units, as well as all future releases. Each thematic unit contains 6-12 weeks worth of content, including:
