Point
Is your website truly accessible?
Bridges introduces on-demand symbol support with Point.

Point is an online tool enabling website visitors the support of Widgit Symbols to access text based information. Point offers a way to make online content accessible to those who may have problems reading it, without altering the appearance of the webpage.

Adding Point to a website or learning platform will only make one small change to its appearance, which is the small 'on / off' button that will appear discretely at the top of the page.

Using Point is extremely simple:

By hovering the mouse over a word a small box will appear containing a symbol(s) illustrating the meaning of the word. The online visitor has total control over this symbol support and the amount of symbols they see, knowing that the support is there for any words they are having difficulty understanding.

Using Point

Setting your website up to use Point is very easy. It only takes a few moments to upload the client files to your server and add a link to the header of your pages. The text processing and serving of images happens on Widgit's dedicated symbolisation servers, so you can be sure that you always have full access to the latest symbols from Widgit.  Using a Content Management System?  Point can be inserted into a template so you don't have to be an HTML expert to add Point to new web pages.

Widgit Symbols

The ever-expanding Widgit Symbol Set has been developed over the past 25 years in partnership with communication and language experts and now contains more than 10,000 symbols, which cover a vocabulary of over 40,000 words.
The Widgit Symbol Set is designed specifically to support independence in reading, writing and communication. The simply drawn, colourful symbols each illustrate a single concept, in a clear and concise way, and cover a range of topics making them suitable for all ages and abilities.

The Widgit Symbols follow a schematic structure, meaning that there are ‘rules’ for the way in which they are formed.

Widgit Symbols are used all over the world, supporting 17 languages and giving readers of all literacy levels greater access to information and increasing communication.
